Or are you using YouTube? In either case, the answer will likely be, you need to start using it more. In the last few months, YouTube has become a major tool for searching. In fact, since we are spending more and more time viewing videos as a normal part of our Internet day, it’s only natural that many of our searches would be originating from YouTube. This will have the effect of pumping up video views even more, if searchers are content to access YouTube videos as their content of choice.

So what does this mean for marketers? It means that if you’re not making video a major part of your content mix, you’re falling behind. Think about your market for a minute. Does it lend itself to video? Would you be able to create “video articles” from the content you either already have or are now creating? This is a very simple task to do, and could pump up your traffic considerably without much effort.

With the ease of using small Flip cameras and smartphones, doing video is now accessible for anyone, and there’s really no reason not to be doing it unless you’re simply petrified of either learning something new (but easy) or don’t wish to be in front of a camera. That last one is easily solved by either doing videos where your content is merely read, or by hiring someone else to do it. In fact, the whole thing can be outsourced.

With this becoming an ever more video driven Web, and the fact that mobile marketing is set to soar in the next year or so, it would be wise to get in on the leading edge of this revolution. The mobile user who may find it a drag to read an article on their phone or iPad may not think twice about viewing your video. Is this something you want to ignore?
