Most people who engage in Internet marketing are doing it to advance their business or personal fortunes to a level beyond where they find themselves now. This is understandable. However, what may be missing from the equation is the knowledge  needed to take that important step to get from where they are now to where they want to be. This step is often the hardest part, and may be as elusive as a cool breeze in August in New York. Let’s take a look at some of the ways you can ensure that you have the best chance to advance yourself or your business in 2011!

Make Strategic Alliances -Perhaps the best way to help get yourself to the next level is by entering into some strategic alliances for your business. This can take on several forms. It may come in the form of new clients, joint venture partners, business partners, staff, and other companies. Don’t underestimate the impact that this can bring to your own business: there is a great deal of power to be found in numbers, and to avail yourself of this is a smart play. Just be sure to do your homework regarding anyone you enter into agreement with, so as to avoid potential problems down the road.

Employ Leverage – The foregoing is an excellent method of employing leverage. Other ways include outsourcing, making investments in your business to help scale it, and utilizing staff or technology to help move your business forward.  The concept of leverage is as old as the hills, so trust in the process.

Pump Up The Volume – Make plans to increase the scale of your business, in whatever forms that may take. Perhaps it means expanding into other markets, creating more web content, or generating far more traffic  or leads. Whichever form this takes, understand that this type of activity is vital to taking you to the next level.

Dare To Take That Risk – There is likely one or two strategies or calculated risks that are in the back of your mind that you know may help, but you have thus far been unable to pull the trigger on them. Take a look at them now, and weigh the risk vs. the possible return so you can make a rational, not emoitional, decision about whether you should take that risk. Only you can do this.

Taking yourself to the next level is not for the faint of heart; it takes a certain amount of drive and courage to see it through. How will you do this year?
